Terms of Service
Last updated: 24 September 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses ChatLink: the website, the web app and the desktop apps. By creating an account or using ChatLink, you agree to them. Please read them together with our Community Guidelines and our Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
ChatLink is a service for chatting, calling and hanging out in servers and direct messages. In these terms, “ChatLink”, “we” and “us” mean the provider of the service. You can reach us through the contact form on our support page.
2. Who can use ChatLink
- You must be at least 16 years old. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and don’t allow younger users.
- You may not use ChatLink if we have removed your account before, unless we allow you to come back.
- One account is for one person. Don’t share your account or sell it.
3. Your account
- Give a real email address that belongs to you. We use it for your login and to contact you about your account.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens with your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.
- Your username and 4-digit tag (for example Alex#1234) are public to the people you meet on ChatLink. Don’t pick a name that impersonates someone else, is offensive or breaks someone’s rights.
4. Using ChatLink
You may use ChatLink for personal, lawful purposes. You may not:
- break the law, or help others do so;
- post anything that breaks our Community Guidelines;
- send spam, advertise at scale, or run automated accounts (“bots”) without our permission;
- try to get into accounts, servers or systems that aren’t yours, or to get around bans, limits or security measures;
- disrupt or overload the service, or look for weaknesses in it without our permission (found a security problem? Please tell us through the support page);
- copy, sell or resell the service, or collect other people’s data from it.
5. Servers and communities
- Anyone can create a server. The owner decides who can join, which roles and permissions exist, and who can moderate.
- Owners and moderators must make sure their server follows these terms and our Community Guidelines, and act on problems they see.
- A public server can be found and joined by anyone through Discover. Make sure its name, icon, banner and description are suitable for everyone aged 16 and up.
6. Your content
- What you post (messages, files, images, your profile) stays yours. You are responsible for it and must have the right to share it.
- To run ChatLink, you give us permission to store, copy, show and send your content to the people you share it with. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law.
- Voice and video calls are sent live between participants through our media server. We don’t record them.
7. Limits
To keep ChatLink running well for everyone, there are limits, for example on how many servers you can own or join and how big files can be. The current limits are shown on our support page. We may change them.
8. Moderation
- We may remove content, limit features, suspend or remove accounts and servers if they break the law, these terms or our Community Guidelines, or if we need to protect people or the service.
- Anyone can report illegal content or rule-breaking with our report form. We look at every report. We do not use automated systems to make moderation decisions.
- When we remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you why when we can, unless the law or safety stops us.
- Disagree with a decision? Send us your objection through the support page. Someone who wasn’t involved in the first decision looks at it again. You can also go to an out-of-court dispute settlement body or to court.
9. Ending your account
- You can stop using ChatLink at any time. To delete your account, send us a request through the support page from your account’s email address. Deleting is permanent: your servers are deleted, and your messages elsewhere stay but are shown as “Deleted User”.
- We may end or suspend your account as described in section 8, or if ChatLink stops. Where possible, we tell you in advance.
10. The service
ChatLink is free. We keep improving it, which means features can change, be added or be removed. We do our best to keep ChatLink available and safe, but we can’t promise it will always work without interruptions or errors. Keep your own copies of anything important.
11. Liability
We are only liable for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, and only as far as the law allows limiting liability. We are not liable for content posted by users, or for damage caused by other users. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we tell you in the app or by email before it applies. If you keep using ChatLink after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
13. Law and disputes
Dutch law applies to these terms. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless the law gives you the right to go to a court where you live.
14. Contact
